Personas and Scenarios

Meet Jamal and Lina, two individuals craving more spontaneity and meaning in modern life, each in their own way.

Jamal longs to slow down and savor life’s simple pleasures. He values authentic, soulful moments and gentle surprises that spark joy or reflection. While he craves connection, he finds planning social activities tiring and feels that many apps over-curate, limiting real discovery.

Lina thrives on novelty and recharges through unplanned walks, journaling, or spontaneous hangouts. She dislikes rigid plans but often feels overwhelmed by choice and pressured by algorithm-driven platforms. She misses the creative freedom and surprise of pre-pandemic travel.

This project was created as part of CONVERGE’25, a Designathon hosted by FLUX (Figma Learning for User Experience), SOCHI (Student Organization for Computer-Human Interaction), and SIMA (School of Information Masters Associations) at the University of Michigan. Huge shoutout to the most wonderful teammates : Dhanush Ravi, Ayana Leelasena, Deeksha Kini, and Amulya Vijaywargiya. I couldn’t have asked for a better crew to explore chaos, spontaneity, and anti-algorithmic joy with.
